Minty’s Giving Tuesday Campaign

Christmas is a time for giving, and our 2020 Giving Tuesday campaign was a little more important for our charity but also for lots of charities across the country, due to the current climate and the last years uncertainty. 1 in 10 charities are facing bankruptcy, as they struggle to cope with a £10 billion shortfall due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Team Mintridge wanted to make 2020’s Giving Tuesday, a little more special, with the aim of raising £2,000 by Christmas. The money raised through this campaign, enables us to deliver more Mentoring Programmes and support children up and down the country. We partnered up with Work for Good to celebrate Giving Tuesday UK and to showcase how generous business donations and pledges from small businesses, could help us achieve our goals and continue our amazing work.

As giving back is so important, Mintridge decided to get involved with #giveback2020 pledge and linked this in with our #smallbusinessstar concept. We asked small businesses to come forward with a #giveback2020 pledge on a day of their choice, throughout advent, to help support the Foundation. On the businesses chosen day, we showcased their amazing work or products on our social media pages and then anyone who used a code or purchased certain products on that day, supported Mintridge with their purchase. This enabled supporters to get their Christmas shopping done as well as supporting the charity and small businesses at the same time.

On each day of advent, leading up to Christmas, we released a Christmas themed video for each of our amazing #smallbusinessstar supporters. In this video, we included their pledge, which consisted of a certain percentage of the businesses sales or a donated prize to our Christmas raffle. Some businesses also joined our founder, Alex Wallace, on an Instagram live video, which enabled both parties to come together and showcase their work.

We have been extremely grateful for everyone’s generosity throughout the campaign so far, and the awareness we have raised of the work we do but also the great work our partners and friends of the Foundation are doing despite the difficult circumstances. Thank you to those small businesses who pledged to Mintridge during the advent calendar, we are so appreciative of all the support we received.

Our 2020 #smallbusinessstars included, KTWO, EasyFundraising, Pretty Athletic, Nibble, Roots Wellness, Dinkibelle, Oliver Jane, DBA Sports, Tracey Lawrence, Crafty Little Primrose, Happy Co, Sisters n Sport, Blue Aurora, Sophie Botsford, CM Cricket, Limitless, Prim and Dotty, Club Champions, Moodbeam, Your Best Self, Crazy Catch, Red January, JR Nutrition, Dottyroo Prints, Bsporty, Her Spirit, Recovapro, Little Big Sports, Active Digital and Charitable Travel.

On Giving Tuesday itself, Work for Good also pledged to double each donation made to a chosen charity. This meant that whoever generously donated to The Mintridge Foundation, on Giving Tuesday, would have their kind donation doubled automatically and donated to Mintridge. We were overwhelmed by the support we received for this and we are delighted to say that on Giving Tuesday alone, we managed to raise £1,622.46! As a very small charity, this amount of money makes a huge difference to us and helps the charity to deliver our Programmes. A big thank you to the generous donations from KTWO, LUMA Project Consulting, Oliver Jane, Club Champion and entries to the Christmas Raffle for making this Giving Tuesday figure possible. But it does not just stop there…

Finally, to boost everyone’s Christmas spirits, we also created a Christmas raffle. Some of our #smallbusinessstars pledged a gift to the Foundation which we put into the raffle; others kindly donated a prize. We had twenty-one prizes in the raffle, including a Recovapro massage gun, a candle from Roots Wellness and vouchers for DinkiBelle and CM Cricket. The raffle ended on the 18th December, just in time for a surprise Christmas present.

As always, we are so grateful for the support everyone has given so far towards our Foundation, as it means that we can continue the rewarding work we do, enabling us to inspire and change the lives of many young people.

We had a target of reaching £2,000 by the end of the year and with your generous support we have managed to raise an incredible £3513.73! What a way to start 2021.

If you missed what we were doing during December, head over to our social media pages to see everything we did to reach this incredible amount. Your continued support enables us to continue our work, so thank you very much! If you would like to support us, head over to our support us page to see what you can get involved in. The Mintridge Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to enhancing life skills in young people through sport. We provide a support network for young people by harnessing the power of positive sporting role models. The Mintridge Foundation assists young people of all ages, abilities, and physical capabilities to develop confidence and resilience, and creates awareness of the importance of mental and physical wellbeing through sport.

Our team of Ambassadors - Olympians, Paralympians and other professional sports stars from over 20 sports, both team and individual - work with young people in schools, clubs and academies across the UK. Starting with visits including assemblies, coaching clinics and classroom sessions tailored to each organisation’s requirements, our ambassadors can then provide one- on- one remote mentoring in a safeguarded environment, delivered via technology such as FitSwarm and Playwaze to build a lasting legacy for individuals.

The Mintridge Foundation’s successes demonstrate the incredible power of sport; from a mentee’s selection to represent Great Britain in their chosen field to enabling disabled children to find confidence and happiness just through participation. Understanding life after sport, we also support our Ambassadors in their transition from active sport to the next stage of their careers.
