Commonwealth gold medallist Eboni Usoro-Brown visits the students at Caroline Chisholm for an extra special Silver Mentoring Programme

St James’s Place Charitable Foundation Silver Netball Programme with Eboni Usoro-Brown – Caroline Chisholm School - September 2021

“Set yourself a goal so big that it will scare you! If not you, who? If not now, when?”

Our amazing Ambassador, England player and Commonwealth Gold Medallist Eboni Usoro-Brown, spent the afternoon inspiring students at Caroline Chisholm School as part of this fabulous Silver Netball Programme, which has kindly been supported by St James’s Place Charitable Foundation. Throughout the afternoon, pupils gained some invaluable insight from Eboni following her online presentation and Q&A, as well as during the physical netball coaching sessions she delivered.

Having spent the morning keenly awaiting the arrival of the England netball star, the students got the opportunity to listen to Eboni as she talked about her ability to manage her incredibly busy life as an international netball player, a lawyer, and a mother! Eboni discussed the difficulty of balancing so many different demands at once, which many students could relate to, and what her methods are when it comes to time management and, vitally, still enjoying what you do.

Following the presentations, Eboni led dynamic and engaging netball coaching sessions with the girls at Caroline Chisholm School, providing insightful and fun activities that enabled the girls to further discover their potential.

Several girls particularly stood out throughout the day, with four students, in particular, receiving a goodie bag that included a water bottle from our partners at The Happy Co, a nutritious Nibble snack and some other great goodies. All of the students walked away with a signed autograph card from Eboni too.

One student was also selected by Eboni to be mentored by Eboni over the next six months, as part of our Silver Mentoring Programme which has been donated by the St James’s Place Charitable Foundation, during which time Eboni’s mentee will gain invaluable mentoring and advice!

It was a wonderful day for Team Mintridge, Eboni, and the staff and students at Caroline Chisholm School. It was fantastic to see how the students learnt from Eboni’s experience both on and off the court, which will help them in the future to pursue their goals!

We are extremely grateful to St James’s Place Charitable Foundation for supporting this wonderful programme and we look forward to delivering more programmes with them again in the future.

The Mintridge Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to enhancing life skills in young people through sport. We provide a support network for young people by harnessing the power of positive sporting role models. The Mintridge Foundation assists young people of all ages, abilities, and physical capabilities to develop confidence and resilience, and creates awareness of the importance of mental and physical wellbeing through sport.

Our team of Ambassadors - Olympians, Paralympians and other professional sports stars from over 20 sports, both team and individual - work with young people in schools, clubs and academies across the UK. Starting with visits including assemblies, coaching clinics and classroom sessions tailored to each organisation’s requirements, our ambassadors can then provide one- on- one remote mentoring in a safeguarded environment, delivered via technology such as FitSwarm and Playwaze to build a lasting legacy for individuals.

The Mintridge Foundation’s successes demonstrate the incredible power of sport; from a mentee’s selection to represent Great Britain in their chosen field to enabling disabled children to find confidence and happiness just through participation. Understanding life after sport, we also support our Ambassadors in their transition from active sport to the next stage of their careers.
